Open-Hopper Barge

A split hopper barge, also known as a split hopper vessel or split barge, is a special type of engineering vessel. It features a unique hull structure that is hinged along its longitudinal centerline (keel line). Using a hydraulic system, the two hull halves can be opened, allowing the dredged material (such as mud, sand, rocks, etc.) stored in the cargo hold (hopper) to be rapidly and completely dumped into a designated water area. Due to their highly efficient unloading method, they are widely used in dredging projects, land reclamation, and marine construction.

Split hopper barges are primarily used in projects that require the rapid, large-volume, underwater dumping of materials.
